Music Monday- Kids These Days

The other night I saw Kids These days in concert, and they blew my mind! It was an excellent performance. There is so much energy on stage with it being a 8 piece band consisting of a trumpet player, sax player, trombone player, blues guitarist/ singer, rapper, bass player, drummer, and piano player/ singer. This is definitely my new favorite band.

Kids These Days is like hip-hop, jazz and blues mixed, but they just call it "Traphouse Rock" I'm not sure how to explain it. Just listen to it.

Secondhand Sureshots

I stumbled upon this movie called "Secondhand Sureshots" it's about making beats with sampling records and it's very inspiring! If I made beats I would definitely use this as inspiration. I have heard a lot of people say that sampling isn't a real art form, but if you watch this video hopefully it will change your mind.

Philosophy Friday-Against Interpretation of Music

A philosopher/Cultural Theorist argued that when we look at art works we sometimes tend to interpret meanings to what the art physically shows. She argues that when we try to fully interpret these works, we say that such and such represents this and it means that. When in fact we could possibly be wrong from what the artist's intended purpose of putting something in the art work. Also, it's possible the artist's intent of making the art was to not have a purpose but rather just to make something intriguing. From there, she says that we should just look at art and only find the intriguing shapes and colors. This same concept can be put into music. We listen to those types of music that either has meaning either about politics or consciousness, or the type of music that talks about nonsense and how many expensive cars this rapper has. Though yes, rappers bragging about how many girls he hits up in the club is a bit absurd, it could be that the artists intent was not to make a real meaning to his music but to just make a song that is just to have fun. It is good for listeners to find meanings in a song that the artists put out, but listeners can ease their mind and just enjoy music without meaning by listening to the nice rhythm and beats in the song.

Jeremy Scott is always making the craziest designs for shoes and this one is just as extravagant. This shoe is called the "handcuff" because it has a chain link handcuff attached to the back of the heel. It's crazy!

Crooks & Castles- Year of the Dragon

On January 20th Crooks & Castles is releasing a "Year of the Dragon" t-shirt that is being exclusively released at their flagship store in Honolulu, Hawaii.

On January 31st the New Zealand brand Lo.wer will be releasing a watch that they made with G-SHOCK.  Lo.wer based this design off of farmers in New Zealand because farming is a big part of their heritage. All G-SHOCKS are already super durable, so what could make them even better? Lo.wer made a leather case to go over the face of the watch that opens up with buttons that you could keep on or take off.

This watch is only being released to certain stores in New Zealand and Australia.

Ice Cream Skate Team Vol. 1

I just found this video on youtube of the Ice Cream Skate Team Vol. 1 and I used to watch this video almost every single day. I loved it, if you are a skater then you should definitely watch the whole thing. It is not just about skateboarding too, it shows the teams journey around the world skating everywhere.

This video was so AWESOME! Pharrell needs to make an Ice Cream Skate Team Vol. 2, I would love to see that.

Music Monday- 27 club

XV did a song called 27 club and it is really cool, and really crazy. The song is called "27 Club" and the reason why is because 27 is the age that a lot of celebrities where when they passed away. Kurt Cobain, Jimmi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, and Jim Morrison all died at the age of 27. This song is good, listen to it!

Bape "1st Camo Graduation"

A Bathing Ape recently released 2 new hoodie's. The hoodie's have the shark head on the front of  the hood, and what makes these hoodie's different from the other shark hoodie's is that these have a new version of Bape camo where other shark hoodie's had never had this certain kind Bape camo. The olive colored hoodie is only being sold in the NYC store, and the khaki colored hoodie is only being sold at the online Bape store.

Pharrell As Spongebob

My brother sent me this picture today and I thought it was pretty cool. It is supposed to be the Spongbob version of Pharrell Williams with a Louis Vuitton backpack, a N.E.R.D. belt buckle (which is his band), a Billionare Boys Club hat (which is his clothing line) and a bunch of Spongebob socks.

Snakeskin Is IN!!!

Lately I have seen a lot of Snakeskin on all kinds of different clothes, and I think it is definitely becoming more popular. Like the custom Python buckle back hat that was created by JBF is extremely popular, and is worn by Big Sean all the time.

JBF also made the "Jafar" Nike's that have Snakeskin on them.

UNDRCRWN also made a hat with Snakeskin on it recently.

The new Vans and In4mation collaboration on the Chukka low's that are soon to release have Snakeskin on them too.

They aren't new, but the Tiffany teal Supra's.

Jeremy Scott also came out with a pair of Snakeskin Adidas.
